BURNET — An informational water meeting about creating an underground water conservation district has been planned for Sept. 29 in the Burnet High School Auditorium. The two-hour program entitled “Do you need it or not?” will begin at 7 p.m.
Burnet County Extension agent Wade Hibler said the purpose of the meeting will be to bring out the facts and remove some of the myths about conservation districts. A series of speakers will talk about basic water law and water planning and also give specific information about the formation and purpose of underground water conservation districts.
Topics and speakers include: “Water Law 101,” Mark Jordan, Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission; “Water Resources, Uses, Planning,” David Meesey, Texas Water Development Board; “TPWD Role in Water Management,” Cindy Loeffler, Texas Parks & Wildlife; “District Creation Process,” Kelly Mills, TNRCC; and “Underground Water Conservation Districts,” Paul Tiber, Hill Country UWCD.
