DENTON – The Denton County Extension Horse Committee will sponsor its annual Foal Clinic from 8:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Winterhaven Ranch in Aubrey. Horse and ranch owners are invited to attend.
Winterhaven Ranch is located 1.3 miles east of Hwy. 377 on Hwy. 428.
“The Foal Clinic will feature programs such as pre- and postpartum management, health care of the foal, nutrition for mares (pre- to postpartum) and foals (birth to weaning), bone growth, development and correction, as well as halter breaking and imprinting,” said Rebecca Parker, Denton County Extension agent for agriculture.
Speakers will include Dr. Anita Lange, an equine specialist with North Central Texas College; Dr. Dick Shepherd, a local veterinarian and equine specialist; Dr. Brett Scott, equine specialist at Texas A&M University; and Dr. Dennis Sigler, nutritional specialist at Martindale Feed Mill.
A trade show will feature products from Martindale Feed Mill, Pfizer, Fort Dodge, Horse Insurance Specialist, Bluebonnet Feeds and Merial.
The registration fee before Jan. 21 will be $10 per person for adults; children age 12 and younger will be admitted free. Included will be the clinic programs, refreshments, a barbecue lunch, and handouts.
