COLLEGE STATION - A rangeland ecology and management professor at Texas A&M University recently received a Fellow Award from the Society for Range Management, which was presented at the organization’s 54th annual meeting in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Dr. Mort Kothmann received the award, which is presented to Society members in recognition of their service and contributions, for his dedication to the profession of range management. His teaching and leadership service spans more than 40 years.
Kothmann was recognized for his active and exemplary service to the Society for Range Management since 1959, supporting the growth of the Society through leadership roles, committee service, annual meeting organization and student recruitment.
During the same period, he made significant contributions to the “art and science” of range management through quality research and transfer of new technologies through computer software packages.
Kothmann’s has had a long and distinguished career as a professor of range management at Texas A&M.. Since 1970, Kothmann has taught one or two courses each semester on topics as diverse as introductory range principles and range research methods.
Kothmann previously was recognized for his productivity as a researcher and college professor in 1995, when he received the Society for Range Management’s Outstanding Achievement Award.
