COLLEGE STATION — A team of Texas A&M University economists recently presented analysis of the draft farm bill to the U.S. House Agriculture Committee and will discuss their findings before members of the media during a call-in press conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25.
In addition to the analysis, the A&M economists will present an in-depth look at the draft and an overview of the implications to farms across the country, including Texas farms, and its effect on total net farm income.
The panel will also discuss the likely implications of adding the counter-cyclical target program. Questions from the media will be taken following the discussion.
Participating in Wednesday’s teleconference will be:
– Dr. Abner Womack, director of the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M.
– Dr. Ed Smith, Texas Agricultural Extension economist.
– Dr. James Richardson, professor of agricultural policy at Texas A&M.
– Dr. Steven Klose, Texas Agricultural Extension economist.
