COLLEGE STATION - In spite of very wet and muddy conditions, the Texas A&M University Women’s Rodeo Team won its second straight regional competition recently at the Northeast Texas Community College qualifying rodeo in Mt. Pleasant.
Leading the way with a first place was freshman barrel racer Brittany Pozzi of Victoria. Maggie Upton of San Angelo won second-place in the goat-tying competition. Also contributing points were Amber Singleton of Combine and Darcy Beyer of Victoria.
The women had previously taken first at the Southwest Texas Junior College Rodeo in Uvalde. In the goat-tying event there, Johna Reeves of Bay City won first, Singleton won second and Stacy Spacek of Dime Box won fifth. Kourtney Shook of Needville won the breakaway roping and Pozzi won the barrel-racing event.
