CLEAR LAKE Imagine a beautiful landscaped yard that requires less water, fertilizer and pesticides, less maintenance and is better for the environment. Learn how to make this a reality by attending the fourth annual WaterSmart Landscaping Workshop.
The workshop, which is open to the public, will be held from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. March 1 at the University of Houston-Clear Lake Bayou Building. More than a dozen local experts will present workshops on topics such as organic gardening, water gardening and landscape deign. Keynote speakers will be author Malcolm Beck, who will discuss organic gardening methods, and Heidi Sheesley, owner of Treesearch Farms, who will talk about WaterSmart plant selection.
Attendees will learn how choosing the best plants for the area will help reduce fertilizers, pesticides and water and will stand up to droughts.
