COLLEGE STATION - Dr. Jerry Stuth, Kelleher Professor with the department of rangeland and ecology management at Texas A&M University, was the recipient of an International Excellence Award Thursday during a ceremony held at the J. Wayne Stark University Center Galleries.
The International Programs Office at Texas A&M recognized eight faculty and staff members, and a six-member team for their contributions this past year to international efforts at Texas A&M.
Stuth was nominated for his international research, which has addressed issues involving production of food and sustainability of rangelands across Africa, Asia, South America and Australia.
Stuth has led a multi-million dollar project, the Global Livestock Collaborative Research Support Program, and was instrumental in the development of a Livestock Early Warning System in East Africa.
He was also recognized for his role in mentoring and training international graduate students. Stuth has placed 23 of his graduate students in Kenya, Ethiopia, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Australia, Jordan and other countries.
