COLLEGE STATION The annual Aggiefest Livestock Judging Contest will be Oct.16 at the Louise Pearce Pavilion here.
Aggiefest, hosted by the Texas A&M University livestock judging team, is open to all Texas 4-H and FFA members. The contest will offer eight classes of livestock including cattle, swine and sheep. An additional questions class will include five questions per species.
“The A&M Livestock Team will be the officials of the contest and will also give a short critique on each class for the participants to learn from,” said Rachel Williams, marketing coordinator for the department of animal science.
Four-member teams will compete in three age groups: sub-junior, (8 to 11), junior, (12 to 14), and senior, (15 to 18). The high-point individual for each age group will receive a belt buckle. The 10 highest-scoring individuals and top two teams will also receive awards.
Contestants can check in from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Aggiefest begins at 9 a.m. with awards following at 1:30 p.m. Pre-registration ends Oct. 8 and the cost is $7 per individual. After that date, registration will be $10 per individual.
