What: 51st annual Texas A&M University Beef Cattle Short Course

An update on the National Animal Identification System will be the topic of the general session at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 1. Speakers and topics include:
-Travis Choat of Packerland Packing, emerging beef markets that require identification of cattle;
– Jim Schwertner of Capital Land and Livestock, a feeder cattle buyer’s view of individually identifying calves;
-Bob Bachman, a cow-calf producer from Graham, a common sense approach to identifying cows and calves and how it affects profitability; and
-Jim McAdams, National Beef Cattlemen’s Association president, overview of an industry-led identification program.
