HOUSTON–- Texas Cooperative Extension in Harris County will offer pesticide applicator training on managing pastures and meadows from 3:30-9 p.m., Sept. 14 in the Extension auditorium, 3033 Bear Creek Drive.
Topics to be presented are:
– “Integrated Toxic Plant Management,” Dr. Catherine Barr, Texas Veterinary Medicine Diagnostic Laboratory toxicologist;
– “Plant Identification – A Primer on Botany,” Dr. Carol Brouwer, Extension agent for horticulture in Harris County; and
– “Pesticide Labels and Label Interpretation,” Wayne Thompson, Extension agent for agriculture and natural resources in Harris County.
Professionals who complete the course will be eligible for five Structural Pest Control Board units or one unit in laws and regulations, two units in general education and two units in integrated pest management from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Registration by Sept. 10 is $25; on-site registration is $30. The cost covers materials and an evening meal.
