COLLEGE STATION – Dr. Bill McCutchen, associate director of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, and a research team have received the 2007 Henry A. Wallace Agricultural Revolution Impact Award.
McCutchen was recognized for leading a research and development team at DuPont and Pioneer prior to joining the Experiment Station in April 2006. The Agricultural Revolution Impact Award is the most prestigious research and development award granted by Pioneer and DuPont in recognition of outstanding achievements in agricultural research and development.
From 2001-2006, McCutchen led the team in developing the weed-resistant technology, Optimum GATTM, scheduled for commercial launch in soybeans in 2008 and corn in 2010.
The weed-management system provides growers flexibility and new choices to managing weeds with herbicides tailored to regional needs.
McCutchen earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in entomology from Texas A&M University, and his doctorate in entomology is from the University of California-Davis.
