SAN ANTONIO – Dr. Larry Stein, Texas AgriLife Extension Service horticulturist, will present a free demonstration on plant grafting from9 a.m. to noon on April 18 at Fanick’s Garden Center, 1025 Holmgreen Road in San Antonio.
Stein will demonstrate the proper grafting techniques for fruit trees, including peach and pear trees, as well as for pecan trees.
“I’ll be demonstrating inlay, four-flap and patch-budding on pecan trees,” said Stein, who works from the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Uvalde.
Stein said he would also demonstrate “approach grafting” on citrus trees.
“Approach grafting has a very high rate of success because you’re grafting two living, growing trees,” he said.
David Rodriguez, an AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Bexar County, also will be available to answer questions on horticulture.
