The joint announcement was made by Ray West, Brown County judge, and Scott Durham, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo.
Stevens will spend April working in AgriLife Extension’s First Step Program in Taylor County to prepare her for her Brown County duties, Durham said.
“We are very pleased to have Chelsea join us here in the west central district,” Durham said. “She has extensive people skills and already has a good working knowledge of her duties. She will be a real asset to the strong AgriLife Extension program Brown County enjoys.”
Stevens holds a bachelor’s degree in food science and technology from Texas A&M University.
While at A&M, she served as an AgriLife Extension student intern in Brazos County where she assisted the AgriLife Extension 4-H and family consumer sciences agents with a number of programs and projects. She also was responsible for a weekly 4-H newsletter, and taught food quality and food safety techniques.
Her professional training includes food product development at A&M, which involved working with a group to develop a multi-grain product, then conducting consumer surveys and a product sensory and cost analysis.
She was also a member of A&M’s Institute of Food Technologists student chapter, and served as the group’s lead coordinator for volunteer efforts at the Brazos Valley food bank.
