LlANO – Texas AgriLife Extension Service’s office in Llano County and the Hill Country Livestock Raisers Association will conduct a wildlife management program from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the American Legion Hall in Llano, 200 Legion Drive.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered (one integrated pest management and two general).
The program topics and speakers will include:
• Quail management and predator control focusing on coyotes, Dr. Jim Gallagher, AgriLife Extension wildlife specialist, Uvalde.
• Deer management and the effects livestock grazing and prescribed burning are having on wildlife, Kerr Wildlife Management Area personnel.
• Building a rainwater catchment quail guzzler, Bryan Davis, AgriLife Extension agent, Bexar County.
• Facts on the local deer population and deer counts, Dale Schmidt, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Llano.
Individual pre-registration by 5 p.m. Oct. 15 is $10 and $15 thereafter. The fee covers a hamburger lunch benefiting the 4-H clubs in Llano County.
