SAN ANGELO – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service and Texas Pomegranate Growers Cooperative, Inc. will conduct a free pomegranate production workshop from 9 a.m. until noon Feb. 25 at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 7887 U.S. Highway 87, San Angelo.
“Pomegranate trees are becoming an attractive option for growers thanks to the wide marketability and uses of the fruit, said Allison Watkins, AgriLife Extension horticulturist in Tom Green County.
“The plant itself is a very attractive small tree with vibrant colored flowers. It’s also not difficult to care for,” she said.
Speakers will include Richard Ashton, Texas Pomegranate Growers Cooperative, Inc.; Paul Cline, U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, Randy Verner, USDA Value Added Program, and Mendy Shugart, Texas Department of Agriculture Go Texan Program.
