LAMPASAS – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a pasture management workshop from 1-5 p.m. April 5 in the Lampasas County Courthouse Annex Conference Room, 409 S. Pecan in Lampasas.
“Now that we actually have some pasture to manage after last year’s record drought and heat, it’s time to manage our forage toward a full recovery,” said Heath Lusty, AgriLife Extension agent in Lampasas County.
“We’ve planned this program to be practical and to the point. It features four one-hour presentations delivered by some of the best professionals in the business. Participants should come away from this program ready with all the information they’ll need to help their land recover this growing season – provided it keeps raining.”
Topics and speakers include:
– Pasture Recovery from Drought, Dr. Larry Redmon, AgriLife Extension forage specialist, College Station.
– Nutrient Management for Forage Production, Dr. Mark McFarland, AgriLife Extension soil fertility specialist, College Station.
– Managing Range and Pasture with DuPont Herbicides, Gerald Hobson, DuPont.
– Dow Product Updates, Weed/Brush Management, Eric Thorson, Dow AgroSciences.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator continuing education units will be offered, two laws and regulations and one general.
Preregistration is required by calling the AgriLife Extension office in Lampasas County at 512-556-8271. Individual registration is $10 due at the door.
