MULESHOE – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service offices in Bailey and Parmer counties will conduct their annual crop tour beginning at 10 a.m. Aug. 30 on the Marshall Pool farm northwest of Muleshoe, located 1.5 miles east of Lariat on County Road DD.
The tour and its concluding lunch are both complimentary, according to Curtis Preston, AgriLife Extension agent in Bailey County.
“The tour will focus on cotton production and will include two replicated cotton variety trials with a very diverse group of genetics as well as a seed-treatment trial,” Preston said. “We will also have cotton industry representatives and AgriLife Extension personnel on hand to present information and to answer producer questions.”
“I suggest those unfamiliar with the area call the AgriLife Extension office in Bailey County for directions to the first tour stop,” Preston advised. “The site directions are also available online; go to the AgriLife Extension website for Bailey County at http://bailey-tx.tamu.edu and click on ‘cotton tour’ to view a tour map.”
For more information call Preston or Monti Vandiver, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management agent for Bailey and Parmer counties at 806-272-4583.
