COLLEGE STATION – The “Growing Good Kids – Excellence in Children’s Literature Award” has been bestowed on three books by the American Horticultural Society and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s International Junior Master Gardener program.
The award recognizes children’s books that effectively promote an appreciation for gardening, plants and the environment, according to Randy Seagraves, Junior Master Gardener international curriculum coordinator.
The three winning books are: “Our School Garden!” by Rick Swann and Christy Hale, “Molly’s Organic Farm” by Carol Mainor and Trina Hunner and “First Peas to the Table” by Susan Grigsby and Nicole Tragell.
“Literature is a powerful way to engage children, and these three titles were selected as the industry’s newest and best story books for kids,” Seagraves said. “Children will love these books, and they would be a welcome and worthwhile addition to any school or home library.”
Seagraves noted that AgriLife Extension’s international youth gardening program jointly administers the awards with the American Horticultural Society.
