COLLEGE STATION — Dr. Marty Dickman has been elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
Dickman has been the Christine Richardson Professor of Agriculture and director of the Institute for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology at Texas A&M University since 2006. He also is on the faculty of the plant pathology and microbiology department.
His research focuses primarily on fundamental studies in fungal diseases of plants with the goal being to understand the mechanisms that regulate programmed cell death and implementing intervention or alternative strategies to generate transgenic plants with novel mechanisms of pathogen resistance.
Dickman also is a fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Phytopathological Society.
