BANDERA – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present a Backyard Poultry Workshop Sept. 22 in Bandera.
Hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee, the program will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Mansfield Park Recreation Center, 2886 U.S. Highway 16N.
“This course will provide a basic introduction for those interested in maintaining a small flock of laying hens,” said Sam Womble, AgriLife Extension agent for agriculture and natural resources in Bandera County. “Topics will include feeding and nutrition, housing, health and egg production. We will also address the food safety part of handling eggs.”
Program speakers will include Drs. Greg Archer and Craig Coufal, AgriLife Extension specialists in poultry science based in College Station.
The cost is $15 per person, including program materials and refreshments. To register, call the AgriLife Extension office in Bandera County at 830-796-7755 by Sept. 15.
