BRENHAM – The Last Chance CEU Workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m Dec. 10. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Washington County, 1305 E. Blue Bell Road, Brenham.
“Those with Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicators licenses need to be mindful of expiration dates,” said Kara Matheney, AgriLife Extension agent for Washington County. “Renewal time for pesticide applicators is quickly approaching and it’s time to get those last-minute hours in before it’s too late. Private pesticide applicators are required to have 15 continuing education units every five years to renew their TDA license. Of the 15 required hours, two must be in integrated pest management and two in laws and regulations. The remaining can be in any combination of general, integrated pest management or laws and regulations.”
Registration for the workshop will be held from 8:30-9 a.m., Matheney said, with the program to follow.
Topics range from feral hogs and nuisance animal control to pond, range and tree management.
“This is a great opportunity for landowners to learn more about managing challenges that are common for properties in the area,” Matheney said. “Handouts will be provided and will have a wealth of information for everyone to take home and use as a reference.”
Registration is $25 per person before Dec. 8 and $35 at the event. Continuing education credits provided for the event will include two laws and regulations, two integrated pest management and one hour of general. The registration fee will cover a light breakfast, conference proceedings, a catered lunch and snacks.
