CANYON – Erin Jones-Gray began July 2 in a dual appointment as the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulture agent in Randall County and West Texas A&M University horticulture instructor in Canyon.
“We are very happy to have Erin joining our Randall County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension team,” said Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district director in Amarillo. “We appreciate WT and Randall County officials collaborating with us on this position, as we know there are many homeowners within the county in both Amarillo and Canyon who will reach out to Erin with their horticulture questions.”
Jones-Gray, a native of Nazareth, earned her bachelor’s degree in plant soil and environmental sciences, and her master’s degree in biology, both from West Texas A&M. She worked previously as a research associate in the Texas A&M AgriLife Research entomology department in Amarillo.
“I look forward to working with homeowners to assist them in addressing their turf issues,” she said. “I also want to provide educational programs to the Randall County community covering subjects such as xeriscaping and water catchment systems. I would like to help people have beautifully landscaped yards while conserving water.”
Jones will have a monthly blog that can be accessed at https://randall.agrilife.org/horticulture/blog/.
