Seaton named AgriLife Extension North Region family, community health program leader
LUBBOCK — Mandi Seaton will become the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s North Region program leader for family and community health starting Sept. 1. She will be based in Lubbock.
As the North Region program leader, Seaton will serve 41 counties in District 1 headquartered in Amarillo and District 2 headquartered in Lubbock.
Seaton has served as the West Region program leader for family and community health for the past three years. Prior to that, she served as an AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for Bailey and Lamb counties.
“I have truly been blessed to have had many opportunities,” Seaton said. “Mine started with a family, then as a kindergarten teacher, then the opportunity for an Extension career presented itself to me later in life. I have now been given another opportunity to move back home (to Lubbock); a new opportunity that is meant to be.”
Seaton earned both her master’s degree in agricultural education and her bachelor’s degree in home economics education from Texas Tech University.
“Mandi is a long-time educator and leader in the High Plains of Texas,” said Dr. Angela Burkham, interim state program leader, family and community health, Amarillo. “Mandi has a proven history of high-visibility programming with impactful results. She has excelled in leadership, mentoring and onboarding of new agents. She is currently co-chairing the agency initiative team for mental health and wellness.”
Seaton’s AgriLife Extension accolades include receiving the Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence, County Extension agent; Texas A&M AgriLife Superior Service Award, County Extension agent; District 2 Outstanding 4-H and Youth Program Award; District 2 Outstanding Teamwork Award; District 2 Outstanding Outcome Award in Family and Consumer Sciences; District 2 Outstanding Family and Consumer Sciences Award; and District 2 Outstanding Multi-County 4-H Programming Award.
