ANDREWS — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is holding a brush and rangeland management field day on Oct. 23.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the AgriLife Extension office for Andrews County at 851 E. Broadway St., Andrews. Registration at the door begins at 8:30 a.m., but RSVPs are requested by Oct. 21 to 432‐524‐1421.
The cost is $10, and lunch, refreshments and handout materials will be provided. There will be one integrated pest management Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education unit available.
Morning speakers are Bill Thompson, AgriLife Extension economist; and Morgan Treadwell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist; both from San Angelo. Topics will include integrating pasture, rangeland and forage insurance into a ranch management program, and brush management techniques and chemical applications.
“This is a good opportunity to learn the latest about a variety of important topics that affect rangeland,” said Robert Dolson, AgriLife Extension agent, Andrews County. “We have gathered a strong group of speakers that can really help provide an overview of key information and address any concerns folks may have when it comes to brush and rangeland management.”
The final discussion will be led by Ty Higginbotham, research assistant, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute Texas A&M – Kingsville, who will speak on how successful brush and rangeland management impacts wildlife.
