The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be holding the Hub of the Plains Agriculture Conference in Lubbock on Feb. 28.
The event will start with registration at 8 a.m. and run from 8:30 a.m-2:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Lubbock at 1102 Farm-to-Market Road 1294.
“This conference covers a wide range of topics relevant to farmers and producers in our region,” said Drew Dunlap, AgriLife Extension agronomy agent for Castro, Lamb and Hale counties. “Lubbock is a great central location that is convenient for many of our local communities, and we’ve lined up a wonderful group of expert speakers.”

There will be three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units available for the conference, two general and one integrated pest management. There will be an optional auxin training at 2:30 p.m. that will offer one laws and regulations continuing education unit.

- Strategies for Crop Insect Management: Bt Cotton Technologies Update and Insect Issues – Suhas Vyavhare, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cotton entomologist, Lubbock.
- Ag System Approaches for 2020: Rotation, Herbicides and More – Wayne Keeling, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cropping systems and weed specialist, Lubbock.
- Fertility Decisions and Crop Cover Potential – Katie Lewis, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Research soil fertility specialist, Lubbock.
- Cotton Varieties and Pre-plant Cotton Decisions – Murilo Maeda, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cotton agronomist, Lubbock.
- Auxin Certification Training – Dunlap and Dagan Teague, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management agent, Crosby and Floyd counties.
