A webinar covering wine grape pests and diseases featuring Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service viticulture experts will be held from 1-5 p.m. April 17.
Cost is $35 per person. Deadline to register is noon April 17.
Michael Cook, AgriLife Extension viticulture programs specialist, Denton, said pest and disease management in Texas vineyards can be a challenge. The half-day program will answer many questions regarding wine grape pests and diseases in vineyards.
“Confused about when and what to spray?” he asked. “Are you struggling with keeping your canopies and fruit clean? Having trouble identifying diseases in your vineyard? If so, this online program is for you.”
Speakers will include Cook and AgriLife Extension viticulture specialists, Fran Pontasch, Beaumont, and Justin Scheiner, Ph.D., College Station.
Cook said AgriLife Extension specialists will walk growers through the process of developing a sound spray program. The program will also cover safety, organic production and proper spray calibration.
Topics will include disease management through the lens of integrated pest management, common disease identification, bacterial diseases, fungal diseases, building a dynamic spray program, understanding grape pesticides and safety. The program will end with a question and answer session.
