The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County will present a Lunch-and-Learn horticulture webinar series during August.
The webinars, which will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, are free and open for public participation. Those wanting to attend any of the seminars will need to download the Zoom app in order to participate. The Zoom link, meeting ID and passcode can be found at https://bexar-tx.tamu.edu/.
“These webinars will provide useful information on gardening in general and also gardening under our current hot and dry conditions,” said David Rodriguez, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Bexar County. “They will also address making preparations for vegetable gardening in fall and winter.”
Horticulture webinar dates and topics
- Aug. 4: Gardening Q&A – Attendees can send in their inquiries via chat or simply tune in to pick up some good general information about gardening.
- Aug. 11: Tomato 101, Growing Basics – Will provide information on tomato selection and best practices for growing tomatoes in the home garden.
- Aug. 18: Lawn 101, Turfgrass Basics – With so many lawns stressed from the summer heat, this webinar will address how to help lawns recover and the best way to maintain them during the fall and winter.
- Aug. 25: Growing a Fall and Winter Vegetable Garden – Will address vegetable selection and plant maintenance for fall and winter vegetables in the home garden.
“Gardening is a fun and productive activity that is great for outdoor exercise and something the entire family can get involved in and enjoy,” Rodriguez said. “These webinars will introduce attendees to many of the best practices for garden and lawn care and maintenance.”
