The Home and Farm Tool Use Demonstration event will take place Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m.-noon in Brockdale Park at 1625 Brockdale Road in Allen.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service event is a free demonstration, but registration is required at https://tx.ag/HFToolReg.
Care, use of tools
The program will cover proper use and basic maintenance for tools commonly used around the home.
“Many landowners and homeowners often find themselves using their tools to clean, clear and improve their property,” said Chase Brooke, AgriLife Extension agent for Collin County. “Taking the time to properly care for those tools means less effort and reduced chance of injury on the farm or home.”
Brooke and Brad Voss, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Collin County, will demonstrate the proper use of many different hand and power tools. The program will also cover the proper care of tools. Tools discussed and demonstrated will include chainsaws, loppers, rehandling axes and shovels.
“We hope our community will come and join us to learn more about the safe use and maintenance of common tools on the farm and around the home,” Brooke said. “Afterall, nothing beats a sharp shovel.”
