The Connecting Agriculture and Health – From the Ground Up program is set for Jan. 11 in Waco. The conference brings together those in health, education and related fields to provide factual and reliable information related to agriculture and its connection to health and daily lives.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service event will run 8:50 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Extraco Events Center Back Porch Club, 4601 Bosque Blvd. The Back Porch Club is located on the second level of the back of Extraco Coliseum.
Registration is required by Jan. 5 at https://tx.ag/GroundUp. The cost is $50 per person or $25 for full-time students.
Continuing education units will be available for certified health education specialists, registered dietitians and teachers. All other professionals will be given a certificate of attendance. A catered lunch will be provided.
“The Connecting Agriculture and Health – From the Ground Up conference brings together informative speakers on a diverse range of topics related to health and agriculture,” said Dana Tarter, AgriLife Extension regional program leader, Vernon. “Each topic relates to the connection between agriculture and human health.”
Connecting conference sessions
The session topics are:
- Flushing Out the Science Behind Prebiotics and Probiotics.
- Promoting Pollinators.
- Seafood Production in Texas.
- Unmasking Our Immunity with Healthy Eating Habits.
- Texas Sorghum.
“We have an excellent program planned for Jan. 11 with speakers who are experts in their fields,” Tarter said. “We hope that participants will take away new information that they can in turn share with their patients, clients and colleagues.”
