The Last Chance CEU Training Course for pesticide applicators will be held Jan. 25 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 7887 U.S. Highway 87 North, San Angelo.
The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Tom Green County at 325-659-6522 or 325-659-6523.
Onsite registration starts at 12:30 p.m.; the program will begin at 1 p.m.
“Though the speakers and topics change from year to year, the format will be familiar for those who have attended this program in the past,” said Josh Blanek, AgriLife Extension agent for Tom Green County. “We call it the last chance course because it’s the last time our office will offer Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units before this year’s Feb. 28 deadline for license holders.”
This year’s course topics include integrated pest management, trees and landscape diseases, pesticide laws and regulations, and drift minimization and calibration.
Blanek said all TDA private applicator license holders must earn 15 continuing education units in specific categories over a five-year period to keep their license valid. Commercial and noncommercial applicators are required to earn five units yearly. Older licenses renew at the end of February, but more recently issued licenses renew on the anniversary of their issue date.
