The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Randall County will host a Lawn and Garden Expo on May 21. The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the courthouse square in downtown Canyon.
Admission is free, and those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food trucks will be available, as well as many exhibit booths.
“We are excited to host this event, and we encourage everyone who is working on their lawns and gardens to come out and learn from our experts,” said Erin Jones-Gray, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Randall County.
On the agenda
The program will feature guest speakers and the following topics:
Lawn and Vegetable Garden care — J. D. Ragland, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Randall County, and Jones-Gray.
Water Conservation — Jeff Lewter, U.S. Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service, Canyon.
Tree Care and Maintenance — Hutch Reed, Arborlogical Inc., Amarillo.
Small Acreage Maintenance — Neal Hinders, Canyon’s Edge Plants, Canyon.
Plant-Potting Presentation — Randall County Master Gardeners.
Discussion of each topic will be a half hour.
