The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will offer an in-person Private Pesticide Applicator Training on Aug. 2 in Georgetown.
The AgriLife Extension personnel in Williamson County will present the training from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the office, 100 Wilco Way, Suite AG205.
The cost is $60, and participants can register at tx.ag/WillCoPPATReg. The registration fee must be paid by exact cash or check on the day of the training. Light refreshments will be served.
Registration includes training, an interactive Q&A session, and printed materials to prepare participants to take their Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator exam.
Importance of training
“The importance of handling and safely applying pesticides cannot be understated,” said Gary Pastushok, AgriLife Extension agent for Williamson County and program speaker.
The Private Pesticide Applicator Training will provide the basics necessary to make informed decisions on pesticide choices, handling, storage and safe applications.
He said both newly trained and licensed pesticide applicators will learn how to observe and minimize the chances for misapplications that may result in plant damage or personal exposure and contamination of the environment.
“I always supplement the basic training programs I do with my own blend of personal experiences and knowledge of the pesticide Industry,” said Pastushok, who previously worked as a pesticide research scientist in the U.S. and Canada.
