The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Bexar County is currently accepting forage samples for testing.
Samples will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 at 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive, Suite 201, San Antonio. The office is open Monday-Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m.

Hay samples will be analyzed at a reduced cost of $5 each. Cash or check payment will be accepted when the sample is dropped off. Make checks payable to: Bexar Ag/NR Committee.
The forage samples will be tested and evaluated for: crude protein, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber and total digestible nutrients/energy.
Forage testing instructions
The form to accompany the sample can be found at https://tx.ag/ForageTestingForm. It should be filled out and returned with the sample. On the form, submitters will also be asked to judge their sample on maturity, color, foreign matter such as weeds and seedheads, smell, softness and overall quality on a scale of 1-5.
- Samples should be in small brown paper bag.
- Samples must be from baled forage only.
- Core or leaf samples are accepted.
- Paperwork should indicate forage type and what livestock the feed is for.
