The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold a Be Heart Strong event Feb. 16 in Kingsville. The event is in partnership with Weavers of Love, Christus Spohn Kleberg, Community Action Corp. of South Texas, Methodist Healthcare Ministries and Healthy South Texas.

This event will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Weavers of Love, 720 E. Lee Ave.
There is no cost to attend but participants should register at https://tx.ag/Feb16HeartStrong or by calling Zelina Zavala, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for Kleberg and Kenedy counties, at 361-595-8655. Space is limited.
February is American Heart Month, a time when people are asked to focus particular attention on their cardiovascular health.
“The goal of the Be Heart Strong event is to educate about healthy lifestyle habits to prevent heart disease and to connect attendees to community resources,” said Amanda Ortega, AgriLife Extension family and community health assistant agent, Kleberg and Kenedy counties.
Be Heart Strong topics
The course will cover the following topics:
- How to reduce risk of heart disease.
- Medication management.
- Healthy coping for heart health.
- Heart healthy cooking demonstration.
- Exercise demonstration to promote physical activity and heart health.
