The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in cooperation with McLennan Community College Continuing Education will hold a Do Well, Be Well with Hypertension series starting April 6 and continuing each Thursday through April 27.

The series is offered to adults interested in learning how to prevent and manage high blood pressure. Sessions will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office in McLennan County, 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco.

“The series will cover how nutrition and activity can help reduce high blood pressure,” said Colleen Foleen, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for McLennan County. “The lively and informative sessions will be delivered in a casual social atmosphere.”
Do Well, Be Well with Hypertension series
The series will promote the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, DASH, eating pattern. Each session will include information sharing, goal setting and a practical tip to reduce blood pressure.
The Do Well, Be Well with Hypertension session titles are:
- Make a Date with the DASH.
- DASHing with Vegetables and Fruits.
- Making a DASH to Shake a Salty Habit.
- DASHing with Dairy.
Foleen said during the series she will share additional information about an optional lesson, Uncovering Added Sugars, for those who are interested.
