Faculty Affairs’ IMPACT celebration builds scholarly community
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences faculty recognized at event
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences had 14 faculty members honored during the second annual IMPACT Summit, which celebrated faculty “innovation, mentoring, purpose, aspiration and community,” or IMPACT.

The recognition of the 2025 IMPACT Prestigious Awards honorees through the Office of Faculty Affairs across Texas A&M University underscores the University’s reputation as a hub for world-class research and home to a community of scholars where innovative thought-leaders are supported and developed.
The IMPACT event identifies rising stars, develops a network around these scholars, enhances career success trajectories, provides a platform for impact amplification and supports faculty excellence.
Award-winning faculty recognition
At the conclusion of the event, the Office of the Provost and Faculty Affairs hosted an awards ceremony acknowledging recent award-winning faculty members from across the University.
The following College of Agriculture and Life Sciences faculty were recognized with Faculty Amplification Awards:
Department of Soil and Crop Sciences
– Felipe Aburto, Ph.D., associate professor of pedology and soil biogeochemistry – National Science Foundation Early Career Award.
– Julie Howe, Ph.D., soil chemistry and fertility professor and associate department head for undergraduate programs – American Society of Agronomy Fellow.
– Bill Rooney, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Research sorghum breeder, Regents Professor and Borlaug-Bayer Chair in Crop Improvement – Crop Science Research Award.
– Briana Wyatt, Ph.D., soil scientist and associate professor, National Science Foundation Early Career Award.
Department of Animal Science
– Reinaldo Cooke, Ph.D., Burkhart Endowed Professor for Beef Cattle Research – Bouffault International Animal Agriculture Award.
– Andy Herring, Ph.D., John K. Riggs ’41 Beef Cattle Professor and associate department head – Animal Management Award.
– Sushil Paudyal, Ph.D., assistant professor of dairy science – Excellence in College and University Teaching in the Food and Agricultural Sciences/Early Career Teacher Award.
– George Perry, Ph.D., AgriLife Research beef cattle reproductive physiology professor – Animal Physiology and Endocrinology Award.
Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism
– John Crompton, Ph.D., a University Distinguished Professor and associate head of graduate and undergraduate programs – International Academy for the Study of Tourism Fellow.
– James Petrick. Ph.D., professor, Research Fellow and graduate program chair – International Academy for the Study of Tourism Fellow.
Department of Entomology
– Jennifer Gillett-Kaufman, Ph.D., instructional associate professor – Excellence Teaching and Student Engagement Award.
– Gabriel Hamer, Ph.D., AgriLife Research entomologist and professor – Fulbright Scholar.
Department of Agricultural Economics
– Rodolfo Nayga Jr., Ph.D., professor and department head – American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow.
Department of Nutrition
– Rebecca Seguin-Fowler, Ph.D., professor and associate director of the Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture – National Academy of Medicine.
