McGregor Research Center Field Day set for April 17 in McGregor
Research tours, market outlook and New World Screwworm update highlight agenda
Texas A&M AgriLife Research will host a field day on April 17 at the McGregor Research Center, 773 Ag Farm Road, McGregor.

The one-day, in-person event runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will feature research tours, expert presentations and lunch for registered attendees.
The event is free to attend. To preregister, contact Priscilla Dowell at [email protected] or 254-840-2878 by April 10. Preregistration is requested for meal planning purposes.
Research tours and market updates highlight agenda
Registration opens at 8 a.m., followed by the program at 8:30 a.m.
Topics include:
- Market Outlook — David Anderson, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service economist and professor, Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Economics
- New World Screwworm Update — T.R. Lansford, DVM, Texas Animal Health Commission deputy executive director and assistant state veterinarian, Austin
- Heifer Efficiency in Beefmaster World — Gordon Carstens, Ph.D., AgriLife Research animal nutritionist and professor in the Department of Animal Science, Bryan-College Station.
- Angus and Brahman Crossbreeding Genomics — David Riley, Ph.D., professor of animal breeding and genetics in the Department of Animal Science, Bryan-College Station, Andy Herring, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Animal Science and interim associate department head for AgriLife Extension programs, Bryan-College Station.
- Grazing Without Boundaries — Brenda Rivera, research associate, McGregor; and Ross Thorn, senior research associate, McGregor.
