O.D. Butler Field Day to feature New World screwworm update May 15 in Anderson
Live cattle demonstration, pasture mealybug and forage management strategies to be part of program
Brazos Valley area cattle producers will get a firsthand look at New World screwworm prevention during a live cattle-handling demonstration at the O.D. Butler Field Day on May 15 at the Thomas Ranch, 10365 Summer Lane, Anderson.

Registration online, which is $39.19 with credit card fees and includes lunch, opens at 7:30 a.m. with the program at 8:30 a.m. Preregistration and payment must be made by May 13. Register online or pay $35 by check. Contact the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Grimes County at 936-873-3907 for more information.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered: one laws and regulations and two general.
Throughout the day, participants can visit several vendor booths and view farm equipment displayed on-site throughout the day.

- Working cattle demonstration, New World screwworm prevention, Karl Harboth, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension livestock specialist and assistant professor, Department of Animal Science, Corpus Christi.
- Pasture mealybug and other forage pest identification, David Kerns, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension entomologist, professor and associate department head, Department of Entomology.
- Laws and regulations update, Don Renchie, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension pesticide safety program coordinator and associate director, AgriLife Extension Agricultural and Environmental Safety Unit, Bryan-College Station.
