AgriLife Extension offers Southern High Plains Scout School

LUBBOCK – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Southern High Plains Scout School on May 25 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 1102 E. Farm-to-Market Road 1294, Lubbock.
The training, which is free and open to the public, will start with registration at 8:30 a.m. with the program to follow from 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
“This program is tailored for those wishing to learn how to identify the various insect pests, as well as the beneficials, affecting crops grown on the Southern High Plains,”said Dr. Suhas Vyavhare, AgriLife Extension entomologist at Lubbock. “We will also be discussing other crop-related topics common to our region.”
Vyavhare said the training will be especially helpful for crop consultant workers, farmers and their workers, AgriLife Extension agents and their interns, and those in other areas of crop production agriculture.
The various topics will include: cotton, corn, grain sorghum, weed identification, crop herbicide injury, beneficial insects and diseases.
