About the clinic

The Joe Pool Lake and Village Creek-Lake Arlington Watershed Partnerships are grant programs that offer financial assistance to eligible homeowners with failing septic systems. The effort supports the long-term health of nearby waterways by reducing potential sources of pollution.

During the clinic, participants will learn how home septic systems, also known as on-site sewage facilities, function and why regular maintenance is critical. Failing systems can discharge harmful bacteria and other pollutants into surrounding streams and lakes, posing risks to both public health and aquatic ecosystems.

About the partnership

The watershed partnerships are a collaboration among the Trinity River Authority of Texas; the cities of Cedar Hill, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Midlothian and Arlington; Texas A&M AgriLife Research; AgriLife Extension; the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; and local stakeholders. The initiative focuses on addressing water quality concerns in the Joe Pool Lake and Village Creek-Lake Arlington watersheds.

Funding and support for the Joe Pool Lake and Village Creek-Lake Arlington Watershed Protection Plans are provided through Clean Water Act nonpoint source grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
