The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the 2026 Brazos Valley Continuing Education Unit, CEU, Conference on Jan. 30 in Caldwell.

The cost of the conference, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $50 if registered before Jan. 23, and $60 at the door. To preregister, call the AgriLife Extension office for Burleson County at 979-567-2308.

On-site registration starts at 7 a.m. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Burleson County Expo Center, 905 Texas Highway 36. 

Five Texas Department of Agriculture CEUs — three integrated pest management, one general, and one laws and regulations — will be available.

Topics and speakers

The conference will feature the following topics and speakers:

  • New World screwworm, T.R. Lansford, DVM, Texas Animal Health Commission deputy executive director and assistant state veterinarian, Bryan-College Station. 
  • Forage pest and chemical control methods, David Kerns, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and associate department head, Texas A&M Department of Entomology, Bryan-College Station.
  • Weed control in pastures and hay meadows, Vanessa Corriher Olson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension forage specialist and professor, Department of Soil and Crop Sciences, Overton.
  • Texas Department of Agriculture laws and regulations, Mark Matocha, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension environmental unit pesticide safety education specialist, Agricultural and Environmental Safety Unit, Bryan-College Station.
  • Herbicide and pesticide updates for pastures, Zach Howard, AgriLife Extension program specialist, Department of Soil and Crop Sciences, Bryan-College Station.
