About the event

The session will feature Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension forage specialist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Research Center at Overton and professor in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences.

Corriher-Olson will focus on cool-season forage brassicas that can help reduce winter feeding costs.

“Brassicas fit well into forage-based production systems by extending the grazing season into late fall and early spring,” Corriher-Olson said.

Her presentation will discuss different members of the forage brassica family, including kale, rape and turnips. Planting, fertilization, forage quality and grazing management will also be addressed.

Recordings of previous “Ag in the Evening” sessions are available at the East Texas Beef and Forage Extension YouTube page.
