Creating a Network for Military Nutrition Readiness webinar set for Aug. 12
Free OneOp session educates on nutrition readiness and networking for military families
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and OneOp will host the webinar, “Creating a Network for Military Nutrition Readiness,” on Aug. 12.

The free webinar will be from 10-11:30 a.m. through OneOp, a virtual platform for professionals who serve military families.
Participants can register for the webinar at tx.ag/NutritionReadiness. Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email containing connection information.

About the webinar
The session will discuss how military families’ nutrition quality and physical and economic access to food impact the demands of a military lifestyle. It will also help professionals identify valuable local, state and federal resources to help families.
Presenters include Captain Alicia Lee, registered dietitian and officer in charge of the Fort Drum Food Insecurity Working Group; Nicole Wetzel, family development educator, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, New York; Jordan Reeves, certified lactation counselor, family and life development educator, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, New York; and Captain Kimberly Whitbeck, registered dietitian, Holistic Health and Fitness Nutrition Program director, 197th Infantry Brigade, Fort Benning, Georgia.
Throughout the webinar, these experts will:
- Explore the three pillars of military nutrition readiness as a framework for professionals working to increase nutrition readiness among military families.
- Describe evidence-informed programs used by service providers to strengthen nutrition and financial readiness.
- Identify local, state and federal programs that support nutrition and financial readiness among military families.
- Identify potential community partners in their own location or workplace to collaboratively strengthen nutrition and financial readiness in the military families they serve.
