Dietary Approaches to Support Brain Health in Aging webinar set for June 25
Free OneOp session explores dietary patterns that may slow cognitive decline in those with Alzheimer's and related dementias
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and OneOp will host the webinar, “Dietary Approaches to Support Brain Health in Aging,” on June 25.

The free webinar will be from 10-11 a.m. through OneOp, a virtual professional development platform for providers who serve military families.

About the webinar
The session will give providers evidence-informed guidance on nutrition strategies that may help brain health across the lifespan. Participants will explore the role of antioxidants, phytochemicals, omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins and the gut microbiome in cognitive function.
The webinar will also compare the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, DASH, Mediterranean, and the Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay, MIND, dietary patterns, and examine emerging research linking these approaches to reduced cognitive decline.
Providers will learn how to address common caregiver questions about supplements, brain foods and realistic behavior-change strategies. Practical talking points and client-friendly recommendations will help providers translate research into actionable guidance for caregivers and families navigating Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, ADRD.
The webinar will be presented by Jenna Anding, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension specialist and professor, Texas A&M Department of Nutrition. Anding is a registered and licensed dietitian with more than 25 years of experience developing and evaluating AgriLife Extension education programs on nutrition, food safety and food preservation. She currently serves as senior editor for the Journal of Extension.
