The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Healthy Pregnancy Series for expecting mothers over 10 consecutive Thursdays, Aug. 6 through Oct. 8, at the Bexar County Greenies Urban Farm, 1615 Sherman St., San Antonio.

Sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon each week. The program is offered at no cost to participants. To register visit tx.ag/ForExpectingMothers.

Transportation is available for those who need it. Partners of expectant mothers are welcomed and encouraged to attend to learn how to support mothers and babies.  

About the program

The sessions will be led by Delilah Gonzales, a community health worker with The Empower House in San Antonio.

Gonzales helps individuals and families access the resources, education and support they need to live healthier lives.

The series consists of 10 healthy pregnancy education sessions. There will be four hands-on cooking classes integrated throughout the series. Participants will receive free mental health counseling sessions, pregnancy resources, doula and mommy massages and snacks.

There will be healthy food at each meeting and graduates who complete the whole series receive $100 in H-E-B gift cards.
