Hudspeth County New World screwworm event set for Aug. 24 in Dell City
Free program to cover flesh-eating fly’s history, identification, prevention, treatment
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host an educational program on New World screwworm on Aug. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Hudspeth County Underground Water District, 107 S. Dodson St., Dell City.
The in-person event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Livestock producers, landowners and others interested in protecting animals from New World screwworm are encouraged to attend.
On the agenda
The program will be led by Sonja Swiger, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension entomologist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Stephenville and professor in the Department of Entomology. Swiger will provide an overview of New World screwworm, including its history, identification, prevention and treatment of infestations.
