The cost is $35, and advanced registration is required at tx.ag/AquaticPlants. The webinar offers one integrated pest management continuing education unit for pesticide applicators in Texas who attend online live.

About the webinar

The featured speaker will be Brittany Chesser, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation management specialist and assistant professor in the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Bryan-College Station.

The correct identification of nuisance aquatic plant species is always the first and most important step in treatment and management, said Chesser, who also serves as lead diagnostic scientist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory.

“With over 600 known species of aquatic vegetation in the state of Texas, this can be a daunting task for pond owners and managers,” she said.

The webinar will teach participants how to identify the most common problematic algae and floating, submerged and emergent aquatic vegetation species seen by AgriLife Extension specialists and county agents, as well as management options for these species.

There will be a 30-minute Q&A session at the conclusion of the webinar.

For more information, contact Chesser at [email protected].
