Land and Legacy Estate Planning workshop set for Aug. 13 in Cleburne
AgriLife Extension program to focus on estate planning and agricultural tax exemptions
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the Land and Legacy Workshop – Estate Planning and Tax Exemptions from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 13 at the AgriLife Extension office for Johnson County, 109 W. Chambers St., Cleburne.

Registration is $20 per person, payable at the door. Participants are asked to RSVP by Aug. 11 by calling the AgriLife Extension office in Johnson County at 817-556-6370. The workshop will also be available virtually.
On the agenda
The educational program is designed to help agricultural producers, rural landowners and families better understand estate planning and agricultural tax valuations while developing long-term succession plans for their operations. The workshop will cover:
- Estate planning fundamentals for agricultural operations, Jason Johnson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension economist and associate professor, Department of Agricultural Economics, Bryan-College Station.
- Building a long-term succession plan for your land or business, Johnson.
- Understanding 1-d-1 agricultural tax valuations, Mitch Fast, executive director/chief appraiser for Central Appraisal District of Johnson County.
- Factors affecting agricultural tax exemptions in Johnson County, Fast.
“This workshop is designed to provide practical information that helps landowners protect their operations and prepare for the future,” said Cassie Mavis, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Johnson County. “Whether you’re beginning to think about succession planning or want to better understand agricultural tax valuations, this program will offer valuable guidance from experienced professionals.”
