The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a pesticide continuing education workshop on Jan. 15 in Palo Pinto.

The course will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $50 per person, which includes a meal. Online registration is available or call the AgriLife Extension office for Palo Pinto County at 940-659-1228. The deadline to register is Jan. 12. 

The workshop will be held at the AgriLife Extension office for Palo Pinto County, 221 S. 5th Ave. 

About the course

Participants will receive five Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide continuing education units — one laws and regulations, one drift, one general and two integrated pest management. 

Topics and speakers include:

  • Herbicide control for fence rows/green briar – James Jackson, range and pasture specialist, Alligare, Stephenville. 
  • Forage pest integrated pest management – Tyler Mays, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management agent, Texas A&M Department of Entomology, Hillsboro. 
  • Drift minimization, Morgan Treadwell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist and professor, Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, San Angelo.
  • New World Screwworm, Sonja Swiger, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and professor, Department of Entomology, Bryan-College Station.
  • Laws and regulations, Kathy Newton, regulatory inspector, Texas Department of Agriculture, Dallas.
