The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Kerr County will host a Small Acreage Landowner Series beginning June 2 in Kerrville.

The five-part series is designed for small acreage landowners interested in learning practical strategies for managing their property. Sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the AgriLife Extension office at Kerr County, 3775 State Highway 27. 

The cost is $40 per person for the full series or $10 per individual class. Cash or check will be accepted at the door or in advance. Checks should be made payable to Pesticide Applicator Training, PAT, and mailed to: 3775 State Highway 27, Kerrville, TX 78028.   

The registration deadline for the full series is May 22. For individual classes, RSVP no later than the Friday before each session. Six Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, integrated pest management, general, and laws and regulations will be available.

Each session will focus on a key topic relevant to small-acreage landowners in the Hill Country.

June 2:

  • Individual Plant Treatment and Brush Management — Megan Clayton, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist and professor, Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Uvalde.

June 9:

  • Farm Pond Management — Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation program specialist and lead diagnostic scientist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory, Bryan-College Station

July 14:

  • Establishing Goals and Developing a Business Plan — Greg Durbin, relationship manager, Capital Farm Credit, Kerrville.

Aug. 11:

  • Feral Hog Management — James Long, project coordinator, Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute and Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Bryan-College Station.

Aug. 18:

  • Ag and Wildlife Valuation — Annie Edenfield, residential/agriculture appraiser, Kerr Central Appraisal District, Kerrville.
